send the one they trust

culturestrategycommunityfaith

Three-panel cinematic dark cyber-futuristic comic. Title bar: SEND THE ONE THEY TRUST. GOLDIE is consistent across all three panels — a Black woman in her late 20s with locs pulled back, gold hoop earrings, leather jacket, DJ headphones around her neck. 1. GOLDIE SUSPECTS: a dozen young creatives sit chained to a long bench inside a subterranean cave-chamber facing a vast wall of glowing screens flickering with shadow-shapes of fake culture (GO VIRAL!, RECORD DEAL?, FAKE IT TIL YOU MAKE IT, ALGORITHM GODS); the captives stare hypnotized, faces lit by cold blue screen-light; in the front, Goldie has turned her head away from the shadow wall, eyes narrowed with suspicion; a thought bubble above her reads WAIT. IS THIS ALL THERE IS? Caption: 'Goldie suspects the shadows are not the whole world.' 2. THE PEGASUS RESCUE: a luminous cyan-and-gold winged PEGASUS — majestic horse with feathered wings, gold spiral halo, long ethereal mane — carries Goldie mid-flight; her broken chains fall away as cyan fragments; below them spreads the actual real world, a vast luminous holographic city of futuristic desert-brutalist architecture with airships and glowing cyan towers; Goldie holds up her phone taking PHOTOS, visible photo-previews floating around her (gallery openings, fashion runways, sovereign creative ateliers, real community gatherings); she is awe-struck. Caption: 'The Pegasus rescues her. She photographs the real world.' 3. PROOF GOES BACK INTO THE CAVE: Goldie has returned to the cave, holding her phone out and projecting the photos she took as a glowing holographic feed in the air above her (visible photo-stills of the futuristic city, the gallery openings, the real community); the captives stare at the photos with widening eyes, chains breaking and falling as they rise from the bench; the old shadow wall is dimming and crumbling; one captive reaches toward Goldie's hand as she leads them toward the cave mouth where cyan daylight pours in; the Pegasus is visible waiting outside. Caption: 'They see the receipts. They believe. They break free.' Footer bar: WE BELIEVE GOLDIE THIS TIME. WE BOARD THE ARK.

remember plato's cave? prisoners chained looking at shadows on a wall. one breaks out, sees the actual sun, comes back to tell them. they shun him. they kill him. that's the original.

now the modern version. creatives chained to the algorithm. staring at shadows of the life they actually want. fake virality. fake record deals. fake industry promises. everybody hypnotized by the screen wall.

somebody breaks out. they go see what the real life looks like. they come back. and the cave shuns them too.

unless.

the inversion

you don't send a stranger back into the cave. you send the one they trust.

goldie starts to suspect the shadows aren't the whole world. a pegasus comes for her. she's a DJ. she works at empire. she's a creative strategist. she already has cultural trust. the pegasus lifts her out, shows her the actual sovereign creative life, and she does the smartest thing she can do.

she takes photos. receipts. proof.

she comes back. she holds up the phone. she shows them what she just saw. and this time the cave doesn't shun her. because they know her. they trust her ears. they trust her taste. they trust the receipts she just brought them.

she says come with me. and they go.

why this is the strategy

you can't break a culture out by yelling at it from the outside. the prophet they ignore is the outsider. the prophet they follow is the one they already love.

the people worth investing in are the goldies of the world. the ones who already have cultural trust. you bring her into the new room, show her what's possible, give her the resources to come back for her people. she's the narrator of the culture for them. she's already in their phones, in their playlists, in their group chats.

when she says board the ark, they board.

the ark is real

noah didn't argue with the world. he built the ark. the people who were ready boarded.

we're building the ark. goldie's job is to walk back into the cave and tell the people she loves that the door is open. some of them will come.

that's enough.

send the one they trust. she walks back into the cave. they believe her this time. they board the ark together.
